NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH — Superintendent John Antonucci is pleased to report that Alec Ciminello has been chosen as the new Principal of the Amvet Boulevard School.

Ciminello has more than 20 years experience as a school administrator, having served most recently for eight years as Principal of the Northern Lincoln Elementary School in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Prior to that he served for 14 years as a principal of various schools within the Westport Community Schools.

During his time as a principal he has developed and maintained annual school budgets including capital improvement projects; devised innovative concepts, ideas and plans to engage parents in the education process; developed community education programming events; implemented Title I programs; and created enhanced academic programs such as a math lab and literacy committee.

Ciminello also served for several years as an assistant principal in the Mansfield Public Schools, an adjunct professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a teacher in the New Bedford and Nantucket Public Schools.

“I have always put students first while maintaining high academic standards, most recently working tirelessly through the pandemic to ensure student and staff needs were met,” Ciminello said. “I have found that my calm, collaborative leadership style has often yielded me my greatest success. My transparency has made me an approachable and trustworthy administrator, and I take pride in being a leader who listens to teachers and parents before jumping to conclusions. I look forward to infusing my enthusiasm, ideas and integrity into the culture and citizenship of the Amvet School.”

Additionally, Ciminello serves as a National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) Principal Mentor, is the founder/Director of Paint Your Heart Out of Greater New Bedford, and is the co-Executive Director of the Ciminello Scholarship Fund.

“Alec has been a passionate and dedicated educational administrator for more than two decades, and his wealth of experience will undoubtedly serve the students, staff and community of the Amvet School well,” Superintendent Antonucci said. “I want to thank everyone who contributed to the thorough search process for choosing the next leader of the Amvet School, and we look forward to welcoming Alec to our district so he can start meeting with families in preparation for next school year.”

Ciminello received his Bachelor of Science in education from Bridgewater State College, his Master of Education in educational technology from Fitchburg State College, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in educational leadership from Bridgewater State College, and a Doctorate in Education from Northeastern University.

Ciminello will assume the role of Principal of the Amvet School on July 1.
