The Building Bridges: Gay-Straight Alliance club was established to promote tolerance and respectful treatment in a harassment-free environment for all students, particularly in relation to GLBT (Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender) issues.
We meet on a regular basis and participate in schoolwide events such as Day of Silence and Ally Week. We host speakers, such as representatives from P-FLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays); religious leaders from a range of denominations; other individuals, including Attleboro Mayor Kevin Dumas and a Sun Chronicle intern who wrote a series of stories about gay issues.
We also attend annual youth leadership conferences focusing on LGBT issues and we meet with students from GSA's in other schools, to exchange ideas and experiences.
How to sign up:
Contact Ms. Healey in room 202.
We encourage all students who have not yet joined, to remember to always be respectful to their fellow peers. Support the alliance! Be an ally!
