Piano Class provides students with the opportunity to develop a working knowledge
of the skills and techniques required to play the piano. Topics covered include
music reading skills, correct keyboard fingering and technique, and general musicality.
Piano I is designed for students with no piano background, and will allow for advancement
at ones individual pace. Piano II is designed for students with prior piano background
or successful completion of Piano I. In both courses, students are expected to work
individually at their own pace with teacher supervision and instruction. Keyboards
with headphones are provided, and students are also able to use the music departments
practice rooms. Students periodically perform recitals in front of the class as
part of the course requirement. The remained of the grading requirements include
class participation, journals, and quizzes and tests.
