Welcome to the Allen Avenue School Web site!   Allen Avenue is a community of learners with strong curricula supported by the use of technology.  We promote responsible risk-taking, critical thinking, problem solving and active learning.  We make decisions that are guided by best practice for our children’s success.  In order for us to realize the mission of the North Attleborough Public Schools-- Preparing all students to be life-long learners and responsible citizens, we hold our children to high academic standards and expectations for personal behavior.  We hold ourselves to high standards as well.

For more than three years our school community has been implementing the North Attleborough Comprehensive Literacy Model.  We will continue to refine our practice in Modeled, Shared, Guided and Independent Reading, as well as the Writers Workshop to strengthen our children’s writing.  We continue implementation of Everyday Mathematics in all of our classrooms.  Our report card and the common assessments that are used to inform instruction have been a powerful addition to our program at the elementary level.

We are a caring community, in which we honor and respect one another.  Mr. W., our custodian works very hard cleaning and maintaining our school building and the grounds.    We hope that all members of the school community feel a sense of pride in this lovely neighborhood school and treat it with kindness.

A message that is repeated often in Allen Avenue publications and forums is that parents are our partners and family participation is critical to student success.  Please check the school and district calendars for upcoming events!  As your children’s first teachers it is critical that the lines of communication between home and school be open.

We hope you enjoy our Web pages, and if you have any questions, please use email or call the school.  With all members of our community of learners working closely together, 2007 – 2008 will continue to be another wonderful school year!

                                                  Sincerely,

                                                  Diane E. Santos, Principal
